How Does Invisalign® Work?Invisalign® uses a series of custom created aligners to straighten your teeth. One of our cosmetic dentists will use special software to map exactly where your teeth are now, and where they will need to be at the end of your treatment. The aligners are then created to be replaced every two weeks, adjusting your teeth in small increments. How Long Does the Process Take?Switching the aligners out every two weeks will completely straighten your teeth in about one to two years, depending on the severity of your condition. It is important to remember that in order for Invisalign® to work, you will need to be diligent in wearing your aligners when you are not eating or cleaning your teeth. Is Invisalign® Better Than Braces?Every mouth is unique, and one treatment is not necessarily ideal for every patient. Our Bellevue cosmetic dentists may recommend Invisalign® for teenage and adult patients who suffer from mild malocclusion; however, they may recommend other options for patients with more severe dental problems. Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Invisalign®?Ideal candidates for Invisalign® include business professionals and active adults who want straight teeth but do not want to get braces. Invisalign® offers you the benefit of straight teeth without the discomfort or awkward appearance of traditional braces. Invisalign® is not appropriate for children or some teenagers whose jaws are still developing, or who have severe orthodontic issues.
