Best Foods to Offer a Teething Baby That Provide Relief
Posted on 9/21/2020 by Dr. Brandon Cooley
When your baby begins to go through the teething process, you will want to do whatever you can to help him or her. Of course, you will provide him or her with appropriate teething toys to help alleviate discomfort, and you'll want to give him or her the best foods as well.
Here is some information about the kinds of foods you can give your teething baby. These foods will help him or her by providing some relief from the discomfort that comes with teething.
Chilled Foods Help Provide Relief
You will want to make sure that all the foods you give your child are pureed or mashed up. The soft food will be easy to eat and will not cause any harms to the tender gum tissue.
It is best to chill this food in the refrigerator prior to feeding your child. The cool temperature will help reduce inflammation and provide some relief from the discomfort.
Using a Mesh Feeder
If your child is not yet able to eat solid foods, you can put a pureed mixture of fruits and vegetables into a mesh feeder and freeze it. Then, as your child eats the food, cooler temperatures will help soothe his or her gums. Some mothers of children who are not yet eating anything besides breast milk will put the milk into ice cube trays. After freezing, they can then put the cubes of milk into a mesh feeder for the child.
The theme here is to provide foods that can cool the temperature in your child's mouth. This will help him or her to get through the discomfort of teething.
