Positive Choices for Improving Your Oral HealthWhen making positive choices for your oral health, there are key things that you should follow. These are the “golden rules” in the dental world and are what you will hear from us if you have questions on how to better your oral health. Today, we will be going over these points to help you either stay on track or get on it!

Brushing and Flossing


In terms of golden rules, this is the shiniest, highest karat one of them all. Brushing your teeth is the foundation of maintaining a set of healthy teeth. You should brush once in the morning and once in the evening every day. Plaque builds up on your teeth throughout the day along with food particles that are likely stuck in your mouth. Using ADA accepted fluoride toothpaste with a soft-bristled toothbrush will take care of this problem and will be your most important method of preventing cavities and tooth decay. In addition to this, you should floss once a day before bed to get rid of any hidden plaque or food between your teeth.

Cutting Back on Sugar


The reason why sugar can be harmful to teeth is that bacteria feed off of it when it becomes stuck on your teeth. This is why food and beverages such as soda and candy are commonly associated with cavities. If you think you consume quite a bit of sugar, we recommend cutting back!

Seeing Us


Regular dental checkups are important in ensuring that everything is going well with your oral health. Seeing us every 6 months will help you both prevent problems and provide treatment for any potential hidden problems that are still in their early stages.
