Does Caring for Natural Teeth While Having Implants Change Your Routine?

Does Caring for Natural Teeth While Having Implants Change Your Routine?Tooth loss can be devastating, especially if the tooth that is missing leaves a visible hole in a smile. Fortunately, there are things that can be done to replace a missing tooth.

One option that has grown quite a bit in popularity is dental implants. In simplest terms, these are artificial teeth that are made to replace those that are missing. If you are considering implants, you might wonder how that will change your daily routine. The good news is that it will not change all that much.

Caring for Dental Implants Is Easy

Implants are called such because they are implanted into your jaw. Instead of being a tooth with a root, you will have an artificial tooth that is attached with a screw. It will look like a natural tooth. You will care for your implant or implants much in the same way as you care for your natural teeth.

You will need to brush after each meal, and you should floss twice a day. You should use a soft toothbrush, and it is always a good idea to use fluoridated toothpaste.

Another thing that is important if you have an implant is to see us every six months. We will want to check not only your implant, but also your other teeth as well. A deep cleaning twice a year is also good for implants.

Once you have an implant, you can expect to have it for the rest of your life. It will become a new tooth in your mouth. If you would like to learn more about implants or see if you are a good candidate, we would be happy to talk to you about the procedure. You will then learn that dental implants are giving people a strong, healthy, and beautiful smile once again.
