Can You Make Your Smile Appear Younger?

Can You Make Your Smile Appear Younger?Your mouth tells people a lot about your age. Unfortunately, your smile may age faster than you do. This is because your teeth grow dark, yellow, dull, and worn looking. Chipping makes this even worse.

Don't let this get you down though. There are some things you can do to improve your smile's aesthetics.

Whiten Your Teeth

This is the biggest thing you can do to maintain a younger looking smile. Since yellow, stained teeth will make you look old and you can't avoid everything in your diet that causes your teeth to react in this way, you should talk to us about bleaching your teeth. While over-the-counter options are available, these aren't a good idea if you have sensitive teeth or lots of fillings. They also won't work if you have veneers, crowns, or caps.

Consider Getting Braces

Your teeth collapse inward as you grow older. This makes the corners of your mouth look dark. With braces, we can help you put your teeth back in their original location and improve any issues you may be experiencing. If you don't want a mouth full of metal, remember Invisalign now exists.

Address Receding Gums

Regardless of why this is happening, it's making your smile look older. However, you should know that we can fix it through a procedure such as a gum graft. This will also help protect your tooth's root so you can maintain your natural teeth for longer.

Consider Some Cosmetic Work

You may also consider swapping out metal fillings for tooth-colored ones. Doing so will also help your teeth remain stronger since old amalgam fillings are known to weaken them. Additionally, you may want to consider veneers.

When you want any of these things done to help your teeth look better, make sure to call and set up an appointment with our office. We look forward to helping you maintain your youth.
