Foods You Never Want to Eat Following Dental ProceduresWhenever you have a dental procedure, you want to be extra careful with the food you eat. While new technology allows most patients to go home and resume their regular eating habits almost immediately, there are foods you never want to eat following some dental procedures.

Cavity fillings, deep cleanings or a root canal usually requires you to abstain from certain foods. Whenever there is the need to fix one of your teeth, it usually means the composition of the tooth is compromised, and it can become weaker, so there are foods you should avoid at all costs.

Foods to Avoid After Dental Procedures

There are some foods we don't want you to eat following a dental procedure or any other time for that matter. Certain foods are so bad for your teeth and can create so many problems that we believe they're not worth even trying. While you may need to eat a special diet that only includes soft, easy to swallow foods, there are certain no-nos that you need to be aware of.

•  Hard foods that require a lot of chewing such as carrots and pretzels
•  Gum
•  Ice cubes
•  Popcorn
•  Candy
•  Bread
•  Alcohol
•  Hot or cold food that increases tooth sensitivity
•  Spicy food that can increase discomfort

The best thing you can do to ensure your dental procedure doesn't bring you additional pain is to follow our food recommendations. In most instances, you will be able to resume your regular eating habits. However, there are foods you should avoid at all costs.

There are some foods we don't recommend under normal circumstances because they can damage your teeth. But following a dental procedure, you should take extra care to avoid foods that can destroy a new piece or dislodge a tooth filling.
